No-exam life insurance

Eligibility rules for expedited review, how the fast-track process operates, and how standard underwriting differs.

Many carriers provide accelerated underwriting: within age and amount parameters, they render decisions from your application, Rx history, driving records and related data, skipping the paramedic exam. Decisions can arrive the same day. Every quote shows the exam status: required, perhaps required, or not required.

What it changes

No exam does not mean no review. Carriers verify your answers, and policies issued based on false statements can be challenged within two years. If the carrier's records trigger concerns, they may request an exam or labs; you then choose to proceed or step back.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, applicants under age 60 seeking amounts within the carrier's fast-track threshold qualify if they lack significant health issues and have not used tobacco for a year or longer. Some carriers accept recent lab work from a doctor visit instead of a new exam.

When required, exams typically run 20 to 30 minutes at your home or Sunnyvale-area office with a paramedic, at no charge. Healthy applicants often see their class upgraded based on exam findings, so it can actually help.
